A handful of ordinary people in Vienna, looking for love, redemption, happiness, maybe. There is this idea of adulthood that you only have as a child: Adults think logically, have a plan, navigate the dangerous depths and shallows of life with the help of sensible decisions, and above all: they know their way around. What a misconception. Anyone over the age of 20 knows this. So there’s the married family man (Devid Striesow) who falls in love with his friend’s (Norman Hacker) excessively exciting lover (Edita Malovcic) after his completely unexpected dismissal. She, in turn, can’t understand why, as the object of desire, she should have to pay for one man’s possessiveness and the other man’s midlife crisis. There is his wife (Silke Bodenbender), a doctor, who wonders why things never work out for her and has already started packing her future ex-husband’s things into boxes. She has been having the same depressing dream for months. And she would actually like to kiss his boyfriend. There is her patient, the 14-year-old who ran into a car after a stupid action and has been in an induced coma ever since. His distraught mother (Gerti Drassl) waits desperately by his bedside. If it weren’t for this strange young man who stands by her side, she would be all alone. There is the old widower (Otto Schenk), who was once a celebrity and now sits lonely and increasingly forgetful in his apartment. He buys support stockings, but would rather have a pistol. Or at least a very sharp razor. He has already signed the living will.
