The film is based on a true story. People who are on the edge of society, yet are among us and yet are not seen. In February 1977, a thirteen-year-old was taken into custody by the police in the city of Graz, Austria. The boy grew up in slums (meaning the last shanty towns in the Styrian capital of Graz). He had eleven siblings and was raised by his mother alone. Martin Pittner, the main character of the film “Run, Rabbit, Run”, is also thirteen years old and grows up in a shanty. Martin hardly finds anything wrong with committing small crimes and later even a robbery together with his friend Fritz, who is the same age. He only realizes the seriousness of the situation when suddenly a detective confronts him.
